In 1985, Alan J. Golden began litigating cases as an assistant district attorney in Grant Parish, Louisiana. Over the years, he has worked in law firms as a defense attorney and ran the Caddo Parish Public Defenders Office as Chief Counsel for 17 years. His experience has exposed him to all facets of the criminal law trial process and the strategies used by both prosecutors and defense attorneys. Mr. Golden has a reputation for being fearless. He is not afraid to take on sex offense cases and has a long track record of courtroom success to back up his bravado. His expertise in defending sex crimes is well-known throughout Louisiana. As a result, Mr. Golden is often invited to speak at statewide seminars where he teaches other lawyers his strategies for success.
Alan J. Golden has also taken leadership roles in legal community organizations committed to improving the legal justice system in Louisiana. As a past president of the Louisiana Justice Coalition, he led efforts to reform the current public defender system in Louisiana. After that, he was active in the Caddo Parish Criminal Justice Coordinating Council for more than seven years. Mr. Golden has lectured on a variety of topics concerning legal organizations and processes including law office administration, jury selection in death penalty cases, and the obligations of public defenders.
